About 12,000 years ago, people began to __________________ from Asia to North America. These people were __________________, who moved from place to place in search of food. Over thousands of years, they spread across North and South America. As they settled and ____________________ to the different geographies, they began to develop a variety of _________________ regions.
Fast forward to the year 1492, when Europeans were in search of a faster route to Asia. Spain hired ___________________________________ to go on an __________________________ west, in search of this route. Though he didn't find the route, he did accidentally "discover" America. Over the next 100 years, many more explorers, including the ___________________________ would sail to the "New World", in search of wealth and glory. Many of these explorers established numerous "New World" _____________________ along the way. As they traveled between Europe and the Americas, these explorers brought goods and people to the two hemispheres, creating a system of trade known as __________________________________. This system of trade connected the "Old World" and the "New World", but came at a cost. Before we get to our opening activity today, students will take The "New World" Unit Test. As students are taking their test, Mr. Danner will continue binder checks. Once testing is done, we will grade it, before finishing up class with the Opening Activity below.
