Opening Activity: It's election day in America. While we're in school today, millions of Americans across the country are cast their votes for this year's election. We have some insight into how the Longwood electorate is feeling though. The results from yesterday's school-wide mock election are in, and Spartans have spoken. Check out the results below, to see who won our 2016 mock election. Then, compare these results with the results of last night's real election. After a brief discussion, we'll move on to the second part of our class, outlined below.
Conflict Socratic Seminar:
Our test is done, but we're not quite done with this unit. Today, students will closely analyze seven primary source documents to help them discuss the following questions:
How did the changing relationship between the American colonists and Britain lead the colonists to feel justified in waging war against and declaring independence from Great Britain?
