Week 1: 3/26 - 3/30

Students will watch the next episode of America, The Story of Us: Westward.
Students will also complete Texas and the Mexican American War from TreeOfEd.com's unit on Westward Expansion.
Finally, students will go on a simulated adventure on the Oregon Trail.

Today, students will watch and discuss the next episode of America, The Story of Us: Westward. Students will have an opportunity to gain Class Dojo points for engaging in the discussion.
Tues./Wed.: 3/27 & 3/28
To start today, we will pick up where we left off with Monday's movie. Pay attention, because there will be a quiz to follow.
Students will then go to Tree of Ed's unit on Westward Expansion and complete 4 - Texas.

Thurs/Fri.: 3/29 & 3/30
We had planned to go on our Oregon Trail adventure today, but will need to push it back to next week. That's a small break for those students who did not complete the Texas work.
If you have not finished Texas, then that is where you are beginning today.
If you have, then you are going to move on to Mexican Cession.
Both of these assignments will need to be completed in order for students to participate next week's Oregon Trail activity.
Week 2: 4/2 - 4/6
Geo Notes: Florida, Texas and Iowa
Students will be assigned the "Moving West" project - DUE next Tue./Wed.
Students will be hittin' the Oregon Trail on Tues./Wed., so dress to be outside
Finally, students will have their first binder check of the quarter. This check will include the following assignments: (1) Annexation of Texas and (2) Mexican Cession. Students will also be able to hand in extra credit on Texas (Standard) and Oregon Trail (All Classes).
Today, we will begin class with our first geography quiz of the quarter.
After our quiz, students will be introduced to the Life in the West mini-project. Go to TreeOfEd.com's unit of Westward Expansion and review the directions in tab 7 - Moving West.
This mini-project is due next Tues./Wed.

Today, we will hit the trail. Students will need a pencil and a book to write on.
Thurs./Fri.: 4/5 & 4/6
Today, students will pick up on their "Moving West" mini projects. Today is the only day we will work on these in class. Remember, this project is DUE Tues./Wed. of next week!
Week 3: 4/9 - 13

Students will also take their Westward Expansion Test on Tues./Wed.
Today, we will begin class updating our binders, before taking our second geography quiz of the quarter.

Pre IB students will also present their Moving West projects. Students not presenting will need to take notes on each of the groups being presented. Students that do not present today, should expect to on Friday.
After presentations have wrapped up, students will take PART TWO of today's exam, which will cover the content from these presentations.

Standard classes will begin checking their Westward Expansion Tests.
Pre IB classes will pick up with their Moving West presentations, before taking part 2 of their exam
Any time left in class will be dedicated to beginning our next unit. Students will first complete the Passport beginning checkpoint for our new unit on Reform Movements. Then, they will begin working on the history cards below.
Week 4: 4/16 - 4/20

Students have FSA testing on Mon. & Tues.
Students will complete their Reform Movement cards throughout the week
Mon./Tues.: 4/16 & 4/17
Today is FSA testing for 2nd/1st periods. Students will need to hand in Wisconsin, California and Minnesota geography notes.
Students will need to pick up where they left off with their Reform Movements cards. We will review these cards as a class.
Wed./Thurs.: 4/19 & 4/20
Students will need to pick up where they left off with their Reform Movements cards. Refer to the post from Mon./Tues. above. We will review these cards as a class, and students will have them in on Friday.
After finishing your cards, open the reading below and read the excerpt on the women of early America. Then, write 2-3 paragraphs on the following question:
How did the rights women in America evolve over the 1700s and 1800s, and how did they play a role in the various movements that took place throughout the 1800s.
